How to Add an Otterdock Group to the Mac Dock
Add an Otterdock group to the Mac Dock by dragging its card in the Mac App Store edition, and see when a native Finder folder is enough.
In the Mac App Store edition, add an Otterdock group to the Dock by dragging its card from the app’s main window onto the Dock. The group becomes a native Dock stack, while the rest of your macOS Dock stays in place.
Add a group to the Dock
- Open Otterdock and find the group you want to keep in the Dock.
- Drag that group’s card from the main window onto the Dock, then release it.
The resulting Dock item represents the group rather than one app. Otterdock groups can contain apps, files, folders, and web links. The current Mac App Store listing says the group’s icon and contents stay up to date after you add it.

When a Finder folder is enough
